1944

Manuel Ferreira da Silva and Dolly Monteiro da Silva get married.

1946

First child is born; Gastão Ferreira da Silva.

1949

Manuel buys the first piece of land for the cultivation of sugar cane (Santa Antao).

1950

Manuel buys the first sugar cane press machine and builds distillery.

1951

Establishment Ferreira da Silva Rum.

1955

First bottles of rum are exported to Sao Vincente and São Nicolau.

1960

Manuel and Dolly open first liquor store in the village of Paúl.

1968

Twelfth child is born; Zeka Ferreira da Silva.

1976

Manuel dies unexpectedly. Dolly takes over daily running of the rum company.

1979

Dolly starts with the aging of old rum (as a tribute to her beloved late husband Manuel).

1980

Birth of first grandchild; Peterson Ferreira da Silva.

1983

Ferreira da Silva expands to another 4 islands.

1985

Expansion distillery and export.

2001

Company’s 50th anniversary.

2003

Ferreira da Silva Rum delivers to all Cape Verde islands.

2017

Dolly dies at the age of 90.

2018

Kevin Ferreira da Silva responsible for activities abroad.

2019

First branch opens in Europe (Rotterdam).

2021

Company’s 70th anniversary and launch Limited Edition Bottle Dolly.
